Garden Gimlet
The Garden Gimlet is a vibrant, herbaceous cocktail that’s both refreshing and complex. The crispness of cucumber, the brightness of fresh lime, and the earthy undertones of basil come together beautifully, with a hint of ginger for that extra bit of warmth and spice. Perfect for those warm days or whenever you're looking for a cocktail that feels light, yet full of flavor.
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, finely grated
1 3-inch piece of cucumber, peeled, seeded, and diced
3 basil leaves (2 torn, 1 for garnish)
2 ounces gin
1 ounce simple syrup
¾ ounce fresh lime juice
1 cucumber ribbon (for garnish)
Method:
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the diced cucumber, freshly grated ginger, and 2 torn basil leaves. This releases all the refreshing flavors, giving the drink its vibrant base.
Add the gin, simple syrup, and fresh lime juice to the shaker. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds, or until the cocktail is well-chilled.
Double strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled coupe or martini glass, ensuring the smoothest texture.
Garnish with a delicate cucumber ribbon and the remaining whole basil leaf for an elegant touch that speaks to the fresh, garden-inspired flavors of the drink.
Tips & Notes:
Garnish Creativity: For an extra touch of flair, you can curl the cucumber ribbon around a cocktail stirrer before placing it in the glass.
Make it Your Own: Feel free to adjust the sweetness with more or less simple syrup depending on your taste preference.
